Vintage is our general-purpose lawn seed — a 100% American turf ryegrass mix that strikes quickly and establishes into a dense, fine, dark green lawn. It's the one most people want for a new lawn, an overseed, or patching where the lawn has thinned.
At a glance
- Composition: 100% American turf ryegrass seed mix
- Finish: Dark green, fine leaf, dense
- Mowing height: 25–50mm, mown regularly
- Position: Full sun — not suitable for shaded areas
Best suited to
- New lawns from bare soil in open, sunny positions
- Overseeding a tired or patchy existing lawn
- Repairing worn strips, pet damage and bare spots
Sowing
- Rake the area to a fine, level seedbed and remove stones and debris.
- Spread the seed in two passes at right angles for even cover.
- Rake in lightly, then firm down.
- Water gently and keep the surface damp through germination.
Vintage can be sown year round except the depths of winter.
Looking after it
A ryegrass lawn wants consistent watering through summer — a lawn wetter is worth using — and regular feeding to hold its colour and density.
Sizes
1kg for patches and small areas, 5kg for a full domestic lawn, 25kg for large lawns, lifestyle blocks and contract work.
Shaded areas? Vintage won't do well there — use Made For Shade instead.
