General FAQs
Do you deliver?
Absolutely. Where you live will depend on the delivery price. Once you select your region and add your address, our Delivery Calculator will work out your delivery fee.
Can I pick up?
Absolutely! You can pick up from any of our locations. Simply choose the pick-up option at check out and add details of when you will be picking up. We also have trailers you can loan for free.
How do you work out cubic metres (m³)?
Length x Width x Depth, for example: 10m (Length) x 4m (Width) x 0.1m (Depth) = 4m³ (Volume)
Use our helpful Volume Calculator - just add in your measurements/dimensions and it will work out exactly what you need.
Do listed product prices include GST?
Yes all of our products listed include GST. You will see a GST total at the checkout stage.
Do Daltons have trailers available?
Yes we do. You can loan one of our tailers for free for up to two hours. We have two sizes available - view here.
During busy periods, trailers may be in high demand. We appreciate your patience and will do our best to assist you as quickly as possible.

What size are the delivery trucks, and will they fit up my driveway?
Most of our trucks are approximately 2.6m wide and 3m high. If you have an extra narrow driveway, contact our friendly team to discuss your options.
How much product fits into a standard trailer?
All our trailers (low and high side) are single axle, non-braked, and rated to carry a maximum of 750kg. Our expert team will determine the best load and weight for safe transport.
- Aggregates (stone, chip, etc.) are some of our heaviest products, so we will only load 0.5m³ per trailer.
- Barks and mulches - trailers can carry up to 2m³.
- Growing media such as mixes or compost - trailers can carry up to 1.5m³.
Please note that these measurements are a guide and depend on the trailer's weight at the time of loading.

How deep should I apply product in my garden/space
For Lawn Soil:
- Spread Daltons Premium Lawn Soil evenly to a depth of 50-75mm.
- If your pre-existing soil is of poor quality, clay or sand, spread Daltons Premium Lawn Soil evenly to a depth of 75-100mm above existing ground level.

When is the ideal time to begin a landscaping project?
You can start a landscaping project at any time of the year, but during spring, summer and autumn is ideal. Keep in mind that progress may be slower during winter or periods of heavy rain.
When should I sow or repair my lawn?
The best time is in autumn and spring when the soil is warmer and grass seed germination is more successful. Read our guide here.
